Mission and Vision
One quarter of student veterans are severely depressed and more than a third suffer from acute anxiety. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, or PTSD, affects close to half of student veterans, with those who survive deployment at increased risk of suicide. Student Veterans Foundation is a nationwide nonprofit organization and movement that works to address these issues. Headquartered in Tampa, Florida, we rely on evidence-based methods for supporting and serving veterans on college campuses as they transition to civilian life. Our multifaceted programs are offered on and off campus to students and their families to help them embrace hope, identify new pathways for success, and be the best they can be.
Our systematic and integrated programs were developed through extensive research on multiple campuses across the nation. We employ time-tested ideas known to help veterans successfully reacclimate to civilian life and succeed as college students as they prepare for meaningful careers after graduation. Through our grassroots “Get Started” movement on high school and college campuses, we sell branded gear in partnership with retailers, military exchanges and at local events to financially support our student veterans while creating a movement that raises awareness of the issues student veterans face. Our ultimate mission is to serve military veterans as they served us by providing them with the resources and support they need to thrive.
The SVF program vision is to build a nationwide movement to let no military veteran on any American college campus slip through the cracks.
