Veterans are the fabric of the flag with active duty the stripes and the stars are those that died and must be honored.
The Forgotten Leaders book was developed from Daniel Bolan’s extensive research on multiple campuses across the nation. The common issues that Bolan discovered are clearly identified and fully addressed in the book.
Students moving from active duty to on campus life have extensive experience from their prior military service that needs to be embraced. Both visible and invisible wounds create issues that have been identified though conversations, discussions and research have helped define the entire Student Veterans Foundation Program (SVF) as described in Forgotten Leaders.
In the development of the book, it was noted that current works in advocacy do not create the needed solutions on campus for our student veterans.
Veterans on campus are much different than other students. Age, experience, and other differences make them very unique. When these differences are embraced, these students will be a tremendous benefit to each college. Once the program is developed and integrated into the college environment, everyone wins.
With the large number veterans on college campuses, the SVF program was developed to benefit not only the veterans but their families.
Forgotten Leaders is a book written by SVF Founder, Daniel Bolan. In his book, Bolan details the current issues facing Student Veterans and how the SVF can be of service. After touring and researching over 30 colleges and universities, Bolan and his team have found significant issues with the current treatment of student veterans on colleges campuses. Forgotten Leaders chronicles the programs the SVF offers both on campus and off campus to combat such issues.
From the Author – Daniel Bolan:
Forgotten Leaders is my collection of thoughts regarding the mission, the purpose, and the goals of SVF. While I want SVF to take immediate, effective action, our initial growth means less than long-term results. The performance of the book’s mission will ultimately be judged by the success of the SVF mission, not by this book itself. I am hoping to reach as many veterans and veteran supporters as possible. I feel that explaining my research, my point of view, and my dream for helping all student veterans, is the sure way to reach many veterans and their family and friends in many communities. Based on my travels around the country, the conversations I’ve had with veterans of all ages, and the research compiled in these pages, I believe that veterans and those who love them, want to know these things, even if they aren’t aware of that yet.
This book is designed to provide student veterans with information they can use to succeed in school and in the civilian workforce. It is designed to explain why it’s important to support our veterans on college campuses and it is designed to explain my vision for how to best support them.
