Student Veterans Foundation was developed to meet the unique needs of veterans on college campuses nationally. After extensive research on public and private campuses throughout the nation, SVF has clearly identified those unique needs. The SVF worked with experts in various fields to design a variety of veteran specific programs to implement on and off campus. These internal and external programs provide student veterans with the training, tools, and supportive community to flourish as students, businesspeople, and members of their families and communities.
Coordinated programs will create touch points for every on-campus veteran providing them with:
social, psychological, and educational training and support
empowerment to express and grow their leadership skills and business acumen
a clear path towards student body leadership positions.
INTERNAL PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS:
Accredited School Program
Phase one includes an accredited one-year school program designed to enhance skills in:
critical thinking and problem solving
values driven goal setting and task planning
a proven memory system that facilitates better learning and the development of brain smart leadership.
Program tools include a teacher’s guide, student textbook, workbook, and a journal.
On Campus Team Program
The Student Veterans Foundation will form and mobilize structured teams to support every veteran from their first day on campus through graduation. Each Campus Team will hold regular meetings, build peer-to-peer relationships, and create a community of support with a defined leadership structure designed to serve the mission of SVF.
The program will be launched and executed by a core group on each campus. Core group members will get free SVF gear for their participation in the full effort. Core member’s names will be placed on a plaque on campus as recognition of their SVF leadership.
Campus Leadership Program
Team Leaders organizing the SVF Team program will receive advanced training from the SVF curriculum. Their experience as on Campus Team Leaders will prepare them for leadership positions on the college campus at large as well as in business and in their communities.
Giving student veterans the opportunity to become visible to each other will enhance their ability to create a supportive social environment and culture of camaraderie and pride. To that end, SVF is creating a line of unique SVF, “Proudly Served” gear to include hats, clothing, and backpacks.
